The Mummy by Anne Rice

The Mummy by Anne RiceTitle: The Mummy or Ramses the Damned

Author: Anne Rice

Call #: RIC

An Egyptian Pharaoh, once the lover of Cleopatra, awakens in Edwardian London. He carries with him a deadly curse as well as an “elixir of life” which is the key to his immortality. Told partially in flashback, the story bounces from scary to erotic to historical. Real figures from Egyptian and Roman history are discussed as though they lived yesterday. The book puts a human face on a classic horror monster but still manages to be scary as hell. Don’t read this before going to bed.
