Berlin: City of Stones by Jason Lutes

Berlin by Jason LutesTitle: Berlin:  City of Stones

Author: Jason Lutes

Call #: G LUT

This graphic novel captures the lives of a small group of art students living in 1920s Berlin. It shows the unfortunate optimism of youth “between the wars” who are yet unaware of the horrible fate awaiting their country and world.  The book examines a time period that is often neglected by writers and historians. The stark, black and white artwork harkens back to the jazz age as does the attention to detail regarding fashion, architecture and attitudes.
